Rules or etiquette on the internet:

  • Don't use vulgar or obscene language.
  • Don't post or reference sexually explicit images or other offensive content.
  • Don't use racially or ethnically offensive language.
  • Don't discuss or incite illegal activity, such as how to build a bomb, counterfeit money, etc.
  • Don't disrupt the flow of chat in chat rooms with vulgar language, abusiveness, hitting the return key repeatedly or inputting large images so the screen goes by too fast to read, etc.
  • Don't harass, threaten, embarrass, or do anything else to a chat participant that is unwanted.
  • Flooding, or filling the chat window with lots of messages, prevents other chatters from being able to participate in the conversation.
  • The same is true for executing emotions. Although generating all of that pink text is lots of fun, you can have too much of a good thing.
  • Go easy on the emotions to allow other users to interact in the room.
  • BY THE SAME TOKEN, AVOID USING ALL CAPS. It is the virtual equivalent of shouting and should be done sparingly.
