Needlework

School

Course description

From 2011-2017 I have worked voluntary as a teacher needle work on a primary school.
The children of this primary school (9 - 12 years) follow the course for maximum 6 hours in a study year (two  projects of 3 hours).
The course aims  to teach the children basic skills of needlework:
  • sewing: handling with needle and thread, learn different stitches and sew buttons
  • weaving: on a card board loom
  • knitting on a spool knitter
  • crochet: making chains

Point of view

  • to learn the basic skills by producing nice and attractive products
  • each child should be able to finish the product in time
  • and last but not least, the children have to enjoy creating  their product. Creativity is more important then techniques
